“I’m a first generation Mexican-American and I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas,” he says. “I moved to Houston when I was five years old and I moved to Colorado when I was 12.”
Perez moved to Denver for his first job after graduating Colorado State University (CSU) with a bachelor’s degree in art and design.
But he didn’t really know what he wanted to do. So for his first six years out of college, Perez worked as a “roadie” for bands and toured the country with artists like Lyle Lovett and Kenny Chesney.
After the touring life, Perez landed a job as a production assistant for the Colorado Springs Independent.
In 2007, Perez started his own company, Indigo Events, which specializes in coordinating weddings, corporate events and private parties. In 2014, he received an opportunity to work as a wedding coordinator for Roland Martin as part of the HLN show “Roland Martin Tea.” Now he is a producer for the show.
But his true passion is writing.
