His favorite thing to do with her was to talk about philosophy and philosophy's possibilities. Although she was a girl, she was a very smart girl, and Kasumi had a great passion for learning.

Kasumi had been a friend of Tōno's since they were children, as she had been a friend of his since before he had joined the Shinsengumi. However, as they grew older, he became more distant from her, as he was unable to let others see his true feelings for her. He even began to think that she was a child, as he felt that he was getting too old for her.
