In 1998, Shahzeb Khan joined a local gaming club which was then named "S-League Gaming". It was this time that he started playing StarCraft. In October 1999, he participated in his first serious tournament, the "Mango Cup". During this time, he was playing under the name "ShahNam".
In 1999, he decided to move to the United States and play StarCraft at the highest level. He was one of the most famous players at the time, and attended many tournaments, some of which were hosted by the American TV station "eSports TV". Other notable tournaments he participated in were "The SCA Invitational", "ESL TV US Nationals", and "WCG USA National".
