Snapple43 personality type is ESTP, and I definitely share some of those personality traits. For instance, I'm generally excited and restless, and I'm generally more interested in ideas and concepts than in practical things. I'm great at thinking through situations and am rarely satisfied with anything that's not perfect. And I am, without a doubt, a problem-solver. In this case, the problem was finding a way to get my head out of my ass and stop being so hard on myself.
I didn't have a lot of trouble with this. I realized it was a question of attitude, and I changed my attitude. It's a little bit like a Zen koan: the answer is right there in front of you, but if you don't want to see it, you can't find it. Your best bet is to give up on the ego and accept the answer as it is. In my case, accepting myself as a person who's okay with not being okay all the time was enough.
As for why I couldn't let that feeling go into the past, I think that's because I didn't want to risk it happening again. I was afraid of losing that feeling of oneness with my partner again.
