After deciding that I want to be a writer, I realized I realized at 15 that I wanted to be a writer. This is probably a really common dream for many children, but I guess for me it was not so common, because I was a very introverted, quiet and un-energetic child. I didn’t really get very much attention from my parents, and I also had a very close family, so no one really knew what I was thinking.
It took me a while to decide what career path I wanted to take. I did the necessary “terrible” things that most people do in their youth: I surfed, did sports and was lonely. When I was 15 I went to the local high school and did some creative writing classes and did some acting classes in the drama club[1]. That year I realized I wanted to be a writer. But when you are an introvert and shy, it is hard to make friends in school, and I also had a very busy life at home with my family. So, when I came home from work, I would write for hours and hours.
