I believe it’s much more likely that they are ISTP. They are the introverted sensor types. They are often well liked by others who are less sensitive or into the world of feeling, emotion, and spirit. They are naturally somewhat lazy. They do ‘gut check’ before taking action, which can be seen as a weakness.
However, the ISTP personality type is actually very good for many things.
They are extremely competent. I’ve known many ISTPs who excel in areas like mechanics, engineering, and programming (or any other technical field). They are capable of getting things done well, and usually take pride in doing so.
They are also good problem solvers. Often times they can come up with creative solutions to problems. They do not see everything as black and white, but as a spectrum of possibilities.
They have good ideas on how things should work. They have a deep understanding of systems and how they work. This is a good thing, as they can also become quite good at design and invention.
They are naturally independent and confident.
