Horace Somnusson personality type is ISTJ, which is described as the "Protector" or "Guardian". I have to say, I'm a little bit surprised to see this type described as "Protector". I've always thought of the ISTJ as "The Supervisor" or "The Manager" or "The Manager of Men", but if that's what you mean, then I guess this could be considered that.
ISFJ personality type is described as "The Provider", but I can't imagine that's what you mean. I'm thinking more of "The Caretaker". I think the ISFJ would be responsible for the family, the home etc.
I would agree with you that the ISFJ would be responsible for the family, home, and children. The ESTJ tends to be the "Protector" or "Guardian" of the family, so I can see how you would think the ISFJ would be responsible for the family.
I would agree with you that the ISTJ is not at all like the ISTP, but I guess that's just because I don't really know that much about ISTJ's.
