The term “hoodie” was first used in the early 1980s after the first hooded sweatshirt was made by J. Crew. The hoodie has become the most popular garment amongst teens. It is commonly associated with street wear. As early as 2005, the word “hoodie” was also used to describe the garment itself, but this use was not common until 2006.
