I have also read a lot of posts in various forums, and the posts that I have read that pertain to the personality types have been very helpful in my understanding of the personality types.
I have been trying to understand my personality type for a couple of years now, and I have come up with a theory about it. In my view, the personality type is a combination of two things. The first is your personality traits, which are the things that you believe to be true about yourself, and which you have learned from interacting with other people. The second is how others see you, and that includes how others see the way that you react to things, and also how they see the way that you respond to things.
In this view, I view each personality type as having a set of beliefs about themselves. For example, on one end of the spectrum you have the ISTJ personality type. This personality type has a belief that they are competent and dependable.
