How did you get into acting?
I got into acting because I was a competitive dancer and I wanted to be a gymnast. When my parents were looking at colleges, I ended up going to New York University to study dance and they recommended I go to the MFA program in the Dramatic Writing Department.
When I was doing that, I auditioned for a lot of drama schools and I got some poetry readings and some small parts, but nothing really big. So I was doing a lot of work in New York City and then I moved to London after my NYU graduation and that's when I started auditioning a lot more.
I think it's a very common thing for people who are young and in the middle of their lives to be going to New York City and going to London because there are a lot of opportunities there. A lot of people don't want to wait for them, so they want to go and try and make it happen.
What was your first film role?
My first film role was in "The Woodmans." It was my first lead role, but it was only a small part.
