17 years before the events of the series, he went on a trip with his family to Hong Kong. For unknown reasons, his mother fell ill and died during this trip. A few years later, he and his siblings moved to Japan. After moving to Japan, he was enrolled into Seika High School. He was also introduced to Shuwen Li. Shuwen Li had a crush on him and attempted to confess her love for him after he saved her from a gang of criminals.
