ANSWER: If she has an eating disorder, it will probably be anorexia. If the pattern of your daughter’s eating is extremely rigid, that would be indicative of anorexia nervosa. If her eating is normal, that would suggest bulimia. She will need to see a nutritionist, but I would also talk to her primary care physician about getting some help. Having an eating disorder is only part of the problem. She needs to get help for her depression, anxiety, lack of self-esteem, or other disorders that are contributing to her poor eating habits. She will need to see a psychiatrist who can put her on medication if necessary.
