I also try to keep things organized by subject. If it’s a book on chess, I don’t want to read a book on the history of chess in the same room as books on psychology and metaphysics. The way that I work is that I move one book at a time. I lay it on the table or on the floor, and I go through it. If something is interesting, I will move it to another spot. Then if something else is interesting, I will move it there too, and so on. If a book doesn’t have any interest at all, I will put it on a shelf.
