My son has been seeing a therapist for the past 2 years. For the past 6 months, he has been exhibiting signs of paranoia and delusions about his therapist. He has had various delusions about his therapist being an FBI agent, the CIA or other federal agents. He told me he thought the FBI has been following him since the start of his treatment and they have probably been listening in on his phone calls with me. He also told me he believed that she was stealing his money and giving it to her boyfriend. He told me she is trying to poison him, and that she is trying to make him go back on his medication. He also told me she was plotting to kill him and frame him for the murder if he didn’t go back on his medication. He has lost his job, had 5 incidents with law enforcement and school police and is having trouble keeping friends and getting his medications because of all this paranoia.
I am only just beginning to learn about the different types of relationship issues that can arise and how best to deal with them.
