Matsuo Bashō personality type is INTP, or Introverted Intuitive Thinking Perceiving type. A Japanese poet and haiku master, Bashō was born in 1644 in Oku-matsu Village in Okayama Prefecture. He was born into a samurai household and his father was the head of the Matsuo clan, the head of a samurai house which had its origins in the 13th century. The Matsuo were important farmers who raised horses and grew rice, the chief of the house at the time of Bashō’s birth was Bashō’s grandfather, who was a literate man and a philosopher. He was also an accomplished poet and he passed on his love of poetry to his grandson, Bashō, who became a famous poet. In 1677, at the age of 22, Bashō adopted writing under the name Matsuo Junji, in 1673, he married a wife named Ushikado (the name means “high platform”) and they had three children together, two sons and one daughter. Bashō’s wife died in 1691 and he remarried in 1694 to Hirosato, a woman who died in 1698.
