When he was young, he had a clear goal of becoming a civil engineer. He studied civil engineering at Nagoya University, but after graduation he became a member of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, where he worked for over 10 years. While working at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, he was able to use his knowledge of information graphics to create visualizations for city planning projects. Since then, he has used his knowledge of this field to create many visualizations for public use.
After his experience with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, he went on to work for the U.S. Department of State, where he was involved in the Iraq Reconstruction Project. After living in the United States, he returned to Japan and did research and development work for a variety of companies, including: Fujitsu, Toshiba, and NEC. He is currently working as an independent consultant and is also working on creating a book on visualization and information graphics.
