Marc Dax, born on December 27, 1770 in Tarascon-sur-Ariège and died on June 3, 1837 in Sommières, was a French physician. He is considered a precursor of the theory of the dominance of the left hemisphere of the human brain in language, preceding by 25 years the work of Paul Broca, whose name has largely eclipsed that of Dax.
