What is the personality type of Andrew Sarris? Which MBTI personality type best fits? Personality type for Andrew Sarris from News & Journalists and what is the personality traits.
Andrew Sarris personality type is ENFJ, which I have described as "The Priest" in my INTP article.
For the sake of brevity, I will just quote him sniping at Spielberg here:
What's interesting about this is that it's not just Spielberg, but many of the other directors who are more or less hopelessly trapped in the same self-created mental/emotional straitjacket. One might argue that Spielberg is trapped in it by virtue of his own exceptionalism. It's more likely, however, that he's trapped because he's too much of a perfectionist to ever be able to leave it behind.
How far away are we from a Michael Bay-type filmmaker? At the moment, I would say that the road to that end is more of a series of gradual steps than one big leap.
The first step is to take Spielberg's fundamental outlook and infuse it with some amount of cynicism. We have seen the results of this several times already, with films like The Graduate being an example of a film that prioritizes cynicism over idealism.
Andrew Sarris (October 31, 1928 – June 20, 2012) was an American film critic, a leading proponent of the auteur theory of film criticism. Sarris was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Greek immigrant parents, Themis (née Katavolos) and George Andrew Sarris, and grew up in Ozone Park, Queens. After attending John Adams High School in South Ozone Park (where he overlapped with Jimmy Breslin), he graduated from Columbia University in 1951 and subsequently served for three years in the Army Signal Corps before moving to Paris for a year, where he befriended Jean-Luc Godard and François Truffaut.
