John Piper personality type is INTP, but I don't think he really has anything to do with being an INTJ.
You are not an INTJ if you are an INTJ. We can agree on that. I don't think that is the case with Piper. There is a difference between "having" and "being" an INTJ. Many people, like your friend, are actually INTJs - who are often very verbal, extroverted, and I guess, live their lives pretty much like they would if they were ENTJ's. So, to me, the MBTI is not saying that there won't be any INTJs who aren't like Piper (or the other way around). Just like there aren't any ENTJ's who aren't like Piper (or the other way around).
INTP's make up about 10% of the population. So, it's pretty unlikely that someone as popular as Piper would be an INTJ as well as ENTJ. If I had to guess, I would say that it's possible that Piper is actually an INTP. I just don't think he has anything to do with being an INTJ. He's just a very famous, very outspoken, and very INTP personality type.
