    Mangkunegara I, also known as Pangeran Sambernyawa ("Soul-Reaping Prince"), (born Raden Mas Said, 7 April 1725 – 1796) was the first ruler of Mangkunegaran dynasty in Java. An Indonesian national hero, Mangkunegara I was known as the founder of the Grand Duchy of Praja Mangkunegaran that ruled over middle portion of South Java, and as the military commander of rebel forces that resisted Dutch VOC influence in the court of Pakubuwono II, during the Geger Pecinan rebellion, when Javanese princes and Chinese rebels join forces to fight pro-VOC factions of the Mataram Sultanate.
