The majority of the information I got was from the book "The White Queen: The First Tudor Consort" by Philippa Gregory. This book is a fictionalized version of the lives of Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I, but it allowed me to understand both people better and to see them as they were.
The movie Elizabeth was based off of this book and made me very curious. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I plan on watching it soon.
Although I don't agree with all of her decisions, I feel that Elizabeth was a great queen. She defended her country against great odds, she put down the Spanish Armada, she unified England under one rule, she was able to withstand the pressures of political marriages, she managed to unite the country again after the Civil War, she managed to preserve some of her religious traditions, and she had many children. She also managed to keep England Catholic for some time, which was no easy task.
Mary II (30 April 1662 – 28 December 1694) was Queen of England, Scotland, and Ireland, co-reigning with her husband, King William III & II, from 1689 until her death. Popular histories usually refer to their joint reign as that of William and Mary.
