The Hachisuka Toyotomi was an infamous warlord during Japan's Sengoku period. At the age of 15, he was appointed as a samurai by the Tokugawa Ieyasu and served as a spy for the shogunate in Kyoto. In 1603, he married Oeyo, a young widow. Hideyori was educated in Chinese classics by Katsu Kaishu, the tutor of Ieyasu’s adopted son, Tokugawa Hidetada. Hideyori was also a very skilled swordsman.
In 1612, Hideyori was appointed as the Commander of the Eastern Army to fight Tokugawa Ieyasu’s Western Army in Osaka Castle. He defeated the Tokugawa Shogunate forces in the Siege of Osaka and defeated Tokugawa in Osaka Castle. However, Hideyori then lost control over his army and turned on his own allies. He was captured and executed by his own side.
