Abagnale Jr. grew up in a troubled household, and was often criticized for his creativity and imagination. He was often bullied by the other kids in school, and became resentful towards his parents, feeling that they failed to teach him any real values.
He was an arts student in school, and would spend many hours in his room reading and writing, and drawing. His mother would always be there to nurture and encourage him, and was proud of his artistic tendencies. She encouraged him to take part in school plays and music recitals, and he spent hours at school creating sketches and drawings.
