He is portrayed by actor Tom Lenk and is a member of the Senior Partners of Wolfram & Hart, a fictional law firm which is featured in the Buffyverse. He is also a member of the Senior Partners in Angel.
He was created for the purpose of bringing Buffy back to her roots in the Spike-Buffy relationship. While Spike, who was created to be a more "stylish" vampire, had become far too close to Buffy for her liking, Lenk's Nate is the opposite. He does not have any romantic feelings towards her at all. He did have a crush on Buffy in high school, which she did not reciprocate. He did not feel that way about her when they met again at law school, but he felt that she was an attractive woman.
