The one thing that really struck me about Paruolo was his ability to retain and track and respond to his fan mail.
I was struck by his dedication and the way he managed his own queue and personal email inbox, and I thought someone should be documenting this information for others who may not have the time or the inclination to keep up with their own personal email and/or IM queue.
I asked Nicolas (and he said he would be happy to help out) if he would be willing to talk about how he keeps track of his emails and what he does with them, and he agreed that it was something worth sharing.

I (Paruolo) would like to offer you an overview of my email habits. For the sake of this article, I will call them my “email habits”.
I always check my email at least once every hour, although I tend to read it much more quickly than that.
I use different email programs depending on the task at hand.
