Episode 4 means he is dating Tara, but he is dating her in the episode 3, the reason I think it's important is because in the episode 4, he shows his mother the video he made for Tara, and she thinks it's very cute, but at the end of the episode, he tells her that Tara doesn't like him anymore because she found out he lied to her about having a girlfriend, and that's why I think it's important to say that Tara doesn't like him anymore.
A little later, in the episode 6, he goes on a date with Tara in which they go to the mall and they play in the food court.
