In Part 3, I will discuss his life and work in the 90s as a political and intellectual with a focus on human rights. Lastly, I will discuss what I believe was his greatest work in the last 20 years of his life (2002-2012).

Lucio Varcenilla was born in Mexico City, Mexico, on May 12, 1926. Raised in a working-class family, he spent his childhood in various places across Mexico including Monterrey, Guadalajara, and San Luis Potosí. As a child, he loved to read. He had a collection of 24 books which he read until he was 20 years old (Varcenilla, “About”).
