Muhammad ibn Maslamah (Arabic: محمد بن مسلمة الأنصاري) (c.591-c.666) was a companion of the Islamic prophet Muhammad. He was known as "The Knight of Allah's Prophet". He was regularly trusted with important military missions and administrative tasks under Muhammad, Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman which he executed efficiently and faithfully. When Muhammad called for the assassination of Ka'b ibn al-Ashraf in September 624, Ibn Maslamah volunteered for the task. Under Umar he was tasked with investigating and assessing the dutifulness of Umars provincial governors. When civil war broke out upon Alis appointment he refused to take sides and instead took to seclusion.
