He knew then that he wanted to make his own game.
Hailing from the small town of Sasebo, Japan, Kunio’s interest in video games was piqued when he stumbled across a random NES cartridge at his local arcade. Within minutes, he had opened the box and was playing the game.
The game was Super Mario Bros., and although Kunio was already a fan of video games and had played a few of the NES games before, this was the game that made him “a gamer forever.” He quickly became obsessed with Mario and all of his adventures.
