The big question is whether or not this is his real name. The online record of his birth has been erased, so all that's left is the name he used at some point in the past.
And the Internet seems to have made up his name. There's a TSN article from 2008 that mentions the "real" name of this guy, and the story uses "Jason" as the name he was born with.
So who knows? Maybe Altair's real name is Jason, or maybe this is just another one of those instances where fiction is based on fact.
Whoever he is, I doubt he'll be pleased to be mistaken for an artificial intelligence in a video game.
