IF personality type is ISTP, or “The Technician.” ISTPs want to understand things by doing them, and the only way they’ll ever truly understand something is by figuring out how it works and then putting it to use. When they do this, they’re living and breathing the essence of what they’re trying to understand.
While ISTPs like to know that they’re doing something that works, they’re often uncomfortable with the fact that everyone else is doing something else, and it doesn’t make sense. Their minds are always at work, and they need to know the rules and limits of the situation in case they make a mistake or get in trouble.
When an ISTP does break out of this mold, though, they can be some of the most powerful people on earth. They’re not afraid to get their hands dirty, but they retain some of their natural gentle nature. As long as the situation remains within their sphere of understanding, they’re perfectly content to leave it alone.
ISTPs are often quite intelligent, but more often than not, they have a hard time seeing the big picture.
