I mentioned above that I worry about a tendency of ENFPs to be over-optimistic, but I don't think that is true of all ENFPs. I've never met an ENFP who was really pessimistic, and I don't think they would have had any reason to become so.
Similarly, I've never met an ENFP who was really cynical. ENFPs are optimists, but they are also realistic. They know that not everyone has the same goals and motivations as they do, and they know that people can be tricky and devious. But that doesn't stop them from believing that people can be honest and fair and good, too. That's why they work so hard to get along with others, and why they are so committed to working for causes that they believe in. And that's why I say ENFPs are idealists, not idealists. They see the world as a good place, and they want to bring others along with them on their way to becoming a better place.
