Nozdryov personality type is ESFP, and Nozdryov is an ENFJ. To complicate things further, there is a third (or fourth, or fifth, depending on who you speak to) group of Nozdryovs: one that stems from a scammer called Yury Filatov. Filatov operated in the 1990s, when he approached top managers in the Russian military with the same pitch: he’d found a way to lower the risk of Russian submarines getting blown up by anti-submarine divers. The submarines would still get blown up, but only when they were in shallow waters. Filatov’s pitch was that all the top brass would love to be able to live in luxury for another twenty years and then retire, and that in order to do this, they’d have to become owners of the company that made this ‘noiseless submarine’. The company was eventually bought up by Elbrus Engineering, which then became part of the Russian state defence firm Rostec. Yury Filatov was arrested, tried, convicted of fraud, and spent three years in prison. He was released in 2011 after serving his sentence.
