Tick personality type is ENTP, and that puts me somewhere in between. There’s a whole lot of emotion in that, and I think I’m fairly well-equipped to deal with it.
When I was in middle school, I was convinced that I was going to be a professional athlete. Around the same time, my dad told me that he’d seen a job listing for an athletic trainer. I knew immediately that I wanted to be one.
My mom didn’t want me to be one, and she made it pretty clear to anyone who asked that she didn’t want me to pursue a career in sports therapy. I think she felt like it would be a waste of my time and talent. I agreed with her, even though I always secretly thought otherwise.
I ended up not going into athletics as a career, but I did end up getting a job as a personal trainer at a gym. I never thought of myself as a trainer, but I knew that’s what I was supposed to do.
At the gym, I helped some seniors exercise more effectively. They all had physical limitations, some of which were caused by their age.
