I agree that the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is not a perfect system, but I believe it's quite useful. I've found that it's helped me understand a lot of how people think.
I've also found that many of the complaints about MBTI are based on misunderstandings and/or myths. For example, I think that the misunderstanding that INFJs are always introverts is based on the fact that introversion is one of the four functions of the INFJ, but it's not the only one. The other three functions are extraversion, intuition, and feeling. All four functions are equally valid starting points for personality type.
INFJs are often quiet and reserved. They're probably not the best communicators in the world. But they're often not introverts either.
I find that INFJs often have difficulty articulating their thoughts and feelings. They like to keep things to themselves for a long time before talking about them. They tend to be very quiet and reserved, even when they're in a social situation where they can talk freely.
