Jerry Quarry personality type is ISTP, and Keirsey is an ESTP. Both fit well with their external focus, but they really don't fit with their internal focus. Keirsey and his ESTP brashness fits better with an ISTP than Quarry, who is more introspective and shy.
I think we all agree that Ni is a healthy, positive force in the Jungian world, which is why I like to use it as a reference. I think that Jungian typing is a useful tool for seeing the different energies of the mind, but I don't think that typing is complete and comprehensive as a way of understanding people.
I haven't read the whole thread, but it seems to me that you are trying to make a case for the validity of Jungian typing. I am just trying to point out the flaws in the idea of Jungian typing.
I see both of these systems as useful, although I think that each has its faults. But frankly I don't think that people are either ISTPs or ESTPs. But I find it interesting to note that Jung seems to have had problems with both systems, as well as Myers Briggs.
