Luke personality type is ENFJ, and the character is inspired by the ENFJs that I know and love. Sometimes, I don't like to use my own personality type as inspiration for someone else's because it can feel like a caricature, but this time I was OK with it. I've been thinking a lot lately about what exactly makes a person good at being a leader and how they do it. To me, being a good leader means making your people feel safe so that they can get some distance from their fears and be themselves.
The ENFJ is known as the "people pleaser" type. They want to please others and to be liked, and so they'll do anything to make others happy, even if it means putting themselves at risk or taking on extra work (and even if they don't want to!). I think that's why this character has the lean muscle-building physique—he's trying to make himself strong enough to protect his people from a whole lot of fears, and maybe even from himself.
The character is also a nerd and a gamer—his love of video games is one of the most obvious ways that he's trying to keep himself from getting hurt, because he doesn't want to be hurt.
