That being said, in my opinion, the best Batman story arc of all time is Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. I loved the Dark Knight Returns because it took a character who had been changed by years of dramatic continuity and made him the hero he should have been from the beginning.
The Dark Knight Returns is an excellent retelling of Batman’s origin. It takes place in the 1980s, when the world was still reeling from the Iran-Contra scandal. The Reagan administration was still in power, but things were changing.
The world was changing, but Batman didn’t change with the country. He was still the same guy he’d always been. He was still Bruce Wayne, billionaire playboy. He was still Batman, vigilante of Gotham City.
The Verdict on Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
I’m not saying that The Dark Knight Returns is better than Batman Begins. I loved both movies.
