What's the point?
There are plenty of reasons why this study might not be the last word on Asian-American differences. For one, it didn't compare Asians to other ethnic groups. It just compared Asian-Americans to Americans as a whole, which could be problematic for other ethnic groups, since Asians are in the minority in America. (About 1 percent of the population, or roughly 3.2 million people, are Asian-Americans, according to 2012 census data.)
Asian-Americans also aren't a monolith. There are many different countries of origin, and many are very different in terms of average wealth, education, and socioeconomic status. These individual factors might be more important than the characteristics of Asian cultures.
Plus, as we've seen in many research studies, cultural differences aren't always what they seem. There are many ways of being Asian that don't match up with these stereotypes — and there are stereotypes of Asians that don't match reality.
