Maz Jobrani is a comedian and actor, best known for his role as an Iranian-American on the ABC sitcom, Modern Family (2009).
He was born in Iran and studied Theatre at the American University of Beirut. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. His family did not like the direction he was going and he soon became estranged from them. He was eventually kicked out of his house and has not spoken to them since.
Jobrani’s career began on MTV’s Halfworlds (2002). He then appeared in the short-lived NBC show, Mee-Maw (2004) and the series, Hit the Floor (2010). He also appeared in the films, Death at a Funeral (2007), and Funny People (2009).
He co-created and starred in the web series, Dorm Daze (2007), and Jam: A Medieval Sports Comedy (2010). He also had a recurring role on MTV’s Happyland (2010).
