Takashi Harimoto is a Japanese politician and businessman. He is a member of the Japanese House of Representatives for the Democratic Party of Japan for the district of Kōchi. He is a member of the House of Councilors for the Chūgoku region.
Harimoto was born in Kōchi Prefecture on February 23, 1982. He graduated from high school at Takasaki High School in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture in 2000. He studied at the Japan Aviation University where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 2004. He was a member of the student council, the student association, the athletic club, and the student council.
Harimoto started his career in 2004 by working for Kōchi Electric Power Company. He later became the company's general manager, but resigned in March 2007 after being questioned about his involvement in an alleged land deal.
Harimoto graduated from the University of Tokyo in 2011 with a master's degree in political science. He became an assistant to former Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama in 2010.
