Jungian type [ edit ]
The Jungian type is based on Carl Jung's psychological system. The four main traits are extraversion (E), introversion (I), intuition (N), and thinking (T). Jung's system of psychological types is based on the theories of his teacher Franz Brentano. According to Jung, the basic psychological type is either extraverted or introverted, sensing or intuitive, thinking or feeling, and judging or perceiving. The psychological type is determined by the dominant function (the function that is most developed and that exerts the greatest influence on a person's behaviour and feelings). Jung believed that there are four psychological types based on these four functions: the dominant extraverted sensing function is called the sensing type, the dominant introverted intuitive function is called the intuitive type, dominant introverted thinking function is called the thinking type, and the dominant extraverted judging function is called the judging type. The non-dominant functions are referred to as the auxiliary functions and are concerned with answering the questions "what" and "how" rather than "why".
