I first had the entrepreneurial bug when I was 12 years old. I went to a summer camp that was designed for kids who wanted to start their own business. I ended up starting a company with my friends called Gumball Works. It was a company where we made and sold candy, and we got a lot of attention from the media and from investors.
At the end of the summer, we had a big reveal of what we had been working on. We had these little candies and they were all shaped like gumballs and they were made out of sugary candy and they were all completely different colors.
We then had a presentation and we showed everybody our new product and we were like, “These are going to be huge, we’re going to be rich.” But as soon as we said those words, they were dead on.
