Old Man Hobo personality type is ISTJ, and the first thing that pops into my head is that he or she is a "watchdog". ISTJ's are stuck in the "stuck in the past" mentality. They want things to go back to the way it was. They want their parents' values and beliefs to be the way they were when they were young. They want to live in a time period where they were safe and where their values and beliefs were followed by everyone else. This can be a very dangerous mindset for a child to have. Unfortunately, this is what happens to children raised by ISTJs.
The Great Depression and World War II were terrible events that shaped the lives of young children all over the world. Many children were orphaned and their families were killed by bombs or disease. Many were sent to boarding school where the way of life was very rigid. Living with strict rules and regulations was very frustrating for children raised by ISTJs.
We are told that the Great Depression was the worst economic crisis in American history, but many people deny that it was even that bad. If you are raised by an ISTJ parent, you may not even realize how bad things really were.
