Bayleef (Bayleaf) personality type is ISFP, but the more accurate designation is Fp, which is the opposite of Si. Volkner is a very rare ISFP, and I would be interested in hearing from anyone who has known him.
Volkner's choice of ISFP over INFP is not surprising. He was kind of a quiet kid, which is not unusual for ISFPs, and he took a lot of interest in his Pokémon as a result. (He once told me that he thought about what his Pokémon were thinking for hours at a time.) He was also very self-sufficient, in a very literal sense. He was the one who set up the gym, and he was the one who trained his Pokémon. I don't think he saw himself as needing anyone else's help.
His personality type is definitely more ESFP than ISFP. He was an extrovert, but only in the sense that he liked to be around people. He enjoyed conversation and socializing, but he wasn't really out there getting people to like him or have fun with him this way.
