Biography
Early life
She was born in São Paulo, Brazil on July 2, 1975. She moved to New York at an early age, and she lived there until she was 18 years old. At this time, she was also a student at the High School of New York. She graduated from Yale University in 1996 with a B.A. in History and American Literature and attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where she obtained an LL.M (Master of Laws) in 2005. She currently practices as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of the United States.
Career
After graduating from Yale University, Bok Joo started working as a trainee at the law firm Hogan & Hartson. She then joined the powerful law firm Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld as a litigation associate in 2006. After two years, she was promoted to partner and became a managing partner of the firm's Singapore office. In 2010, she started her own firm, Bok Joo Woon & Partners, and is now a partner and head of its litigation department.
