As an INFP, I’d like to say I’m not surprised by this. For all of his flaws, there is something about John that I find very resonant.
I’d like to think that most INFPs are very similar to John. If you’ve never seen the episode “Fools for Love,” I highly recommend it. Here we see John, who is a master of logic and reason, being tripped up by his emotions. He also has a very strong moral compass which often leads him to make very hard decisions, but he’s also very much a sucker for a pretty face.
Looking at the writers of the show, many of them are also INFPs (see this post for details) and are known for writing in a similar style to each other, so it’s easy to see that John and the rest of the cast is similar to them as well.
