Shepard personality type is ENFP, so he can be a bit over-eager to share his ideas, even if they are just small, simple things that can be solved during his first playthrough. He also has the tendency to act first and think later, which is why he doesn't know all the proper ways to deal with the Denizens. This does not mean he is incapable of thinking things through. His intelligence is very high, and he will think through his options. He learns faster than other characters, but he doesn't know everything. If Shepard chooses to save him, he will be stronger than ever.
