Paul joined the IT industry in 1988 after completing Ed Edmondson High School in Mesa, Arizona. He took up a course in computer science at the University of Arizona, which was attended by many other future tech giants. In 1999, he founded a company called BroadVision Inc. , which later became Broadcom Corporation.
Paul was appointed CEO of Broadcom in 2009, and left the company due to a crisis at the end of 2010. He joined the Qualcomm Inc. as a member of its board of directors in 2011, and became a member of its Executive Committee in 2012. He joined the board of directors of Qualcomm Inc. from 2013 to 2014.
In April 2016, Paul joined the board of directors of Apple Inc., and became a member of its Executive Committee in May 2016. In September 2016, he resigned from the Apple board after it was discovered that he had multiple stocks in Broadcom Ltd.
