Her main function was to take control of the RAY and then immediately order it to self-destruct, and thus she was extremely weak and could not defend herself. Once her controller is defeated, she gains the ability to defend herself, but this still leaves her in a vulnerable state. After Meryl is defeated, The Sorrow takes over the body of the deceased XOF member Kazuhira Miller.

He became known as Punished "Venom" Snake or Big Boss' phantom.
